STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION

Mindful Treatment & Movement Therapy

When your curiosity and desire to explore against your naturally relaxed and light body drives the work.

Structural Integration is for everyone, and I take your exact wishes and needs as my starting point. It is a unique method that invites self-reflection, and combines manual treatment with movement education. I guide you, and you often provide feedback, and through this you become aware of tiring body habits. With your newfound awareness and know-how, you can integrate new habits that relax, balance and build you up.

Afterwards, you will experience pain relief and improved physical performance. You will have better posture, greater mobility, find it easier to relax and will experience an improved quality of life.

Structural Integration:
  • Restores and reorganizes a strained and collapsed posture.

  • Provides increased energy and performance as you use less effort to compensate for pain and imbalances in muscles and joints.

  • Relieves pain, tension and fatigue caused by an unconscious and exhausting way of using and moving the body.

  • Invites self-development and lifestyle change as old habits are broken and new opportunities arise.

  • Relates to: flexibility, ergonomics, breathing, tension, stress, trauma, joint and muscle pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis and much more.

How many sessions?

A carefully designed course is built up over 10 sessions and is a kind of user manual for your own body. I work with you to systematically restore and balance your entire musculoskeletal system. Your posture and the way you move are the result of years of habits. It is therefore not possible to experience a comprehensive change in just 1 or 2 sessions. But you can easily choose 1 single session, or a shorter course and get something out of it. There is typically 1-4 weeks between sessions.

How does a session take place?

A session lasts approximately 1½ hours and consists of myofascial release (a massage method), dialogue with me and movement instruction. Your clothing is tight-fitting so that I can see your posture and the way you move.

As a client, you are attentive, active and reflective both during the session and when you leave the clinic, as new appropriate body habits are incorporated into your daily life.

In the 10-session course, each session focuses on a specific body area: the chest and breathing, balance in the feet and legs, abdominal and lower back stability, mobility in the spine, etc.

New possibilities in sitting, standing and walking are explored and tested. Some sessions will focus on improving your ability to perform better and/or relax more in an activity that is relevant to you. For example, when working at your desk, when doing sports or playing a musical instrument.

DEEP MASSAGE

My treatment is individually tailored to you as a client. Building trust and being very precise is an essential part of my approach. I work with calm deep strokes and pressure, so that you do not tense up, but have time and opportunity to let go completely and relax properly. I use various in-depth and innovative techniques to loosen up the body, including myofascial release and zen shiatsu.

The treatment relieves pain, provides greater mobility in muscles and joints, stimulates circulation and activates the immune system. A treatment can also have a very positive influence on a tense or stressed psyche.

My massage treatment is extremely beneficial
and effective if you suffer from:
  • Pain, tension and general stiffness in the body

  • Tension-related headache

  • Soreness/discomfort related to pregnancy

  • Impaired circulation

  • Overexertion and soreness during exercise

  • Back, shoulder and neck problems

  • Wear and tear and arthritis

  • Stress

TESTIMONIAL

REFERENCES

UNI-C (now called stil.dk ) - excerpt from happy employees:

Within his field, Kim can be said to be a bit of a magician. He has cured daily headaches, stiff necks, sore backs and other ailments among the employees at UNI-C. He takes the individual's problem as a starting point and tailors an individual solution so that specific needs are met 100%. His calm and pleasant nature and professional approach to the massage have meant that many have wanted to use him, and that they have come back at regular intervals. We give Kim our very best recommendations!"

Kirstina Tranberg - after a course in Structural Integration:

"I have had arthritis for many years and have been to many skilled therapists from general physiotherapy, osteopathy, massage to rose therapy. But Kim can do something that the others haven't given me. First, he meticulously examines my body with me and creates an awareness of where my body is pulling wrong, where I tense up, etc. Together with this new body awareness and the posture-correcting exercises we do, I get some tools that I can continue to use on my own to correct my body. Even during Kim's expert massage, I am a participant."

"Kim is very competent and has a very pleasant manner, is supportive and encouraging and knows how to use his wonderful humor in a disarming and redeeming way. Kim has given me new hope that much good can still be done for my body and the defects corrected, and I am deeply grateful to him for that!!"

Anna Reumert - massage therapist and actress, after a course in Structural Integration:

"Kim has a deep understanding of the body, and he manages to convey his experiences in the best way possible. It's a fantastic feeling in the body when everything "falls into place". Suddenly I discovered how much effort I was spending on using my musculoskeletal system incorrectly. When the imbalances were corrected, I felt light and floating. In a way, it's as if the body is being reborn."

Thomas Lund - ballet school director and instructor at the Royal Danish Ballet:

"Throughout my career, I have experienced many different therapists, and after just one treatment with Kim, you don't have a moment's doubt about his abilities. It is highly recommended."

THE ONE

Kim Mühlenfeldt

- member of DAKOBE and Registered Alternative Massage Therapist

I am trained in various manual therapies. In addition, I have a unique knowledge of the body and functional movement through my background as a professional dancer in the Royal Danish Ballet.

Since 2006 I have worked as an independent masseur and body therapist in my own clinic and in companies. ( See references if applicable)

My background gives me knowledge and theory about how to use and move the body naturally and appropriately. Therefore, in addition to liberating massage therapy, I also offer Structural Integration, which gives you resources and tools to change your inappropriate body habits.

I also offer courses and lectures to various professional groups. The common denominator here is theory and practice about how to move and use your body with integrity.
