THE ONE
Workshop in Structural Integration
Mindful Treatment & Movement Therapy

Structural Integration (SI), also known as Rolfing, is a unique method that merges manual therapy with movement education, and where you and your client work together as a team.

Of course, you can't become an SI therapist in a weekend, so this workshop is for those of you who are curious about what SI is and can do. It is also intended as a taster, to get the method under your skin a little before you sign up for our 2-year SI training. The workshop can also stand alone, as the tools introduced can easily be integrated into your current practice.

At the workshop, you will be introduced to the four tools that SI consists of, through theory and practice. These tools often flow together, but can also be carried out separately:

THE ONE

Body reading of your client is a simple and rewarding tool that gives you an overview of what your client brings in terms of any imbalances and imbalances. It also aims to awaken your client's awareness and curiosity, so that he/she takes ownership of his/her own body and process.

Movement education, or alignment exercises, are designed to detect any imbalances in movement and guide the client towards better interaction of the different body parts. It is an indispensable tool both for your client, to feel the difference and integrate the treatment, and for you to tailor the treatment itself.

Myofascia release (MFR) is aimed at balancing the fascia chains in the body. It is a fantastic tool and integration enhancer, where you, through your pressure, lead the myofascia in more appropriate directions. In a movement collaboration with the client, you communicate with both the tissue, the sensation and the brain/control system.

Mindful attention is the very foundation for discovery and change in an SI session. When you motivate your client to use their senses and notice, the opportunity arises to break with old, inappropriate habits. The client is also invited to provide you with information about what they are feeling, which also guides you in the process.

The SI workshop is for you who are:

  • Practitioners such as masseurs, body therapists, relaxation therapists, etc.

  • Movement educators such as personal trainers, physiotherapists, dance instructors, pilates or yoga instructors, etc.

  • Looking for training or further education in a body-based method that helps your clients take ownership of their well-being.

“As a massage therapist, I had great success in relieving pain and tension, but something was missing. How could I help my clients avoid repeating the same unhealthy habits that caused the same recurring discomfort, and use their bodies in a more balanced way? When I observed an SI session, it became clear that I had to learn this approach. Here were the elements I was missing.”

Tine Langkilde - Massage therapist and SI therapist - Copenhagen DK

"Structural Integration has completely transformed my work as a personal trainer. Now, for example, I use a mirror or take pictures of my clients to help them become aware of their body interactions before developing a training program for them. I now have a more complete toolbox to help people realize and live out their full potential.”

Rod Fielder - Personal Trainer and SI Therapist, - Auckland NZ

Myofascial Release Course 1
Pelvis and Core Muscles

In this course we zoom in on the body's core muscles from the rib cage to the pelvic floor. This center is an anatomically very exciting area that you can really immerse yourself in as a therapist. Debilitating discomfort can also occur in this region, such as groin and hip problems, lower back pain, tilted pelvis, etc. We will also touch on all of this.

Starting from the Psoas, which we will explore from several different angles, we will move past the Iliacus, Quadratus Lumborum, Erector Spinae, Diaphragma and Sacrotuberous. Myofascia Release is particularly effective when you need to work on these deep and often inaccessible structures.

The course is for those who want to try Myofascia Release, which is the manual part of Structural Integration also known as Rolfing. The prerequisite is that you have experience as a manual therapist such as a masseuse, body therapist or similar.

You can also expect:

  • To receive a detailed and thorough compendium, with theoretical knowledge about the different areas and a review of each technique via images and text.

  • To learn the fantastic tool that is to enter into a movement collaboration with the client. That is, you guide him or her to move into your pressure, and thereby gain a completely different access to and relaxation of the structure.

  • To expand your skills with new or further developed techniques that will enhance your treatment and make a difference for you and your clients.

  • That the focus will also be on your own body as a therapist. That is, that you rest in your power and do not get unnecessary tension yourself while you release the client's.

Myofascial Release Course 2
Jaw, Nose, Throat and Neck

Starting from the jaw, we delve into the small but extensive area from the neck up. Through theory and practice, you will be introduced to innovative Myofascia Release techniques, as well as Connective Tissue Techniques, which relax and balance problems in the jaw, nose, throat and neck. Anatomically, these body parts are difficult to separate, as they have a great impact on each other. However, the techniques you learn on the course can be used individually, just as they can be used in conjunction with each other, as they complement each other.

The course is for those who want to try Myofascia Release, which is the manual part of Structural Integration also known as Rolfing. The prerequisite is that you have experience as a manual therapist such as a masseuse, body therapist or similar. It is recommended that you do not engage in any demanding activities immediately after the course, as these techniques go deep and may well put you down for the rest of the day.

You can also expect:

  • To receive a detailed and thorough compendium, with theoretical knowledge about the different areas and a review of each technique via images and text.

  • To expand your skills with new or further developed techniques that will enhance your treatment and make a difference for you and your clients.

  • That the focus will also be on your own body as a therapist. That is, that you rest in your power and do not get unnecessary tension yourself while you release the client's.

THE ONE
Workshop for CranioSacral Therapists
In Balance and flow while you treat

Are you straining and using unnecessary energy? And are you getting tense yourself while you are working on curing the client's?

Your most used tools, arms and hands, do not work alone. They are supported and receive strength from the whole body. In this workshop you will feel what it means to be in balance and flow while you treat, and achieve increased strength and ease by using it consciously. Your primary focus is for once on your own body, because when you and your body parts rest in themselves and align themselves with the task, you have the best starting point. It is not only for yourself and your own good, but also for the technique/treatment itself and thus the client's good. A win win situation.

As a therapist, and in all aspects of life, it is always beneficial that when you do something good for others, you also do something good for yourself. Otherwise it becomes too strenuous in the long run. This is not to say that you cannot be a super skilled KST therapist, even if you are unnecessarily tiring yourself, but why not sense and treat from an engaged, relaxed and supported body?

In this workshop, we do not focus on 'right and wrong' working positions, but focus on when you 'rest in your power' and have flow in your body. This means that you exert as little effort as possible on yourself when you work. These are universal principles whose benefits you can reap in all of life's activities, but which are particularly useful when you are treating.

At the workshop you will gain know-how in:

  • Body reading: When you see yourself and others from the outside, your awareness is tuned in to any imbalances, distortions and inappropriate use of the body.

  • Alignment exercises: You learn to explore and feel, adjust and align yourself, sitting and standing, with and without movement. This sharpens your senses and makes you aware of when and how you are most centered, engaged and relaxed in your body.

  • Being in flow while you treat: This means that you integrate your new knowledge regarding body reading and alignment exercises when you work on the client. We test different KST techniques with this new mindful approach, where you give your own body the best conditions.
